Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the director of Human Pluripotent Stem Cell and Genome Engineering Lab, you will serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to oversee the induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) generation activities of the lab.
In this role, your responsibilities include cell culture of mammalian cell lines including human primary somatic cells and human pluripotent stem cells, numerous reprogramming experiments from somatic cells to induced pluripotent stem cells, the characterization of resulting induced pluripotent stem cell lines and of the reprogramming processes, banking and organization of cell lines, the characterization (quality control) of resulting iPSC lines with diverse biochemical and molecular methods including genomics approaches such as RNA-seq and whole genome sequencing and CRISPR.You will be required to coordinate and work together as a team with other employees of the core lab.
The position will be highly cross-functional and will build and maintain effective collaborations with UCLA researchers and will oversee technical staff in the core.
You will work with the lab personnel on other tasks as needed including ordering, distributing research materials, administration of projects and budgeting.
This role will report to the director of Human Pluripotent Stem Cell and Genome Engineering Lab.Qualifications 5+ years’ experience in reprogramming human primary somatic cells such as fibroblasts or blood samples to iPSCs without the use of antibiotic5+ years’ experience in culturing iPSCs and human embryonic stem cellsFlow cytometryPrevious research experience on CRISPR targeting & library screening and capacity to develop effective gene-editing tools & publications are highlypreferred” Routine passaging, freezing/expanding of stocks of iPSCsSkilled with standard techniques in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, genomics approaches and bioinformatics, including molecular cloning.
