DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Conducts patient histories and physicals
-Orders and interprets diagnostic tests
-Performs evaluations and makes diagnoses
-Initiates consults and referrals
-Initiates treatment
-Directs patient care including therapeutic preventative and health maintenance services.
-Provides health education
-Follows up and consults with physicians
-Ensures timely completeness in documentation.
-Assists the surgeon with pre-and-post-operative care and surgery under the supervision of a state-approved supervising surgeon.
-At times may need to perform job functions at other facilities.
-Acts as first assistant in surgery (open and laparoscopic abdominal surgery)
All activities will be performed in collaboration with other team members under direct and indirect supervision of the head physician.
Must be self-directed/motivated, have excellent documentation and communication skills as well as computer skills.
Candidate must also posses strong problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
Experience using EMR/EPIC
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPPA
Punctual and maintains attendance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, members, and providers.
There may be rare overnight calls, 1-2 Saturdays per month, rare emergencies, and half day clinics.
QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS
Graduate from an accredited PA program with a current California PA certification and DEA license.
BLS card for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
Multiple years (more than 3 years) of experience required.
