The Samuel Oschin Cancer Center, nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report, treats more than 60 types of cancer. Its team of experts works to create a treatment plan to meet each patient’s specific needs. The center’s outpatient infusion center offers chemotherapy and supportive services, including 18 private rooms for treatment sessions six hours or longer.

Summary of Essential Duties:

* Assist with in-office minor surgical procedures, clinic flow, practice management, and help to facilitate continuity of care. Completion of pertinent nursing assessment
* Ensure new patient records received and abstracted for physician review.
* Telephone triage of clinic patients. Needs ranging from results review, pre-and post op concerns
* Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, pre-and post op teaching, treatment side effects
* Perform/assist the physician in excisional biopsy /wide excision/ JP drain/wound vacuum care, wound drainage
* BRCA/Colaris/ Tissue banking/ Genetic Blood/tissue banking in patients with Genetic Tumor Syndromes

Education:

* Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (state accredited program (preferred)

License/Certifications:

* RN State License California State RN License Upon Hire
* Basic Life Support (BLS) Require BLS unless a higher level of certification is required Upon Hire
* ANCC Specialty Certification(1 year)
* Other Competencies, as required by your specialty unit (ex. ACLS, PALS, fetal heart monitoring) (1 year)

Experience:

* Surgical oncology experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

* Lifting, Standing, walking, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, balancing, kneeling, crouching, handling, grasping, hearing, talking. The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions. Must be able to perform assigned duties in a demanding work environment.
