The USC Caruso Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) of the Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) is proud to announce the opening of a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program anticipated to open in the Fall semester of 2021.

The University of Southern California Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program is an Applicant for Candidacy by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

We are seeking talented faculty with an interest in contributing to the development of this program, emphasizing interprofessional practice and clinical competence across the domains of speech-language pathology.

We are seeking instructors who engage in innovative teaching and learning experiences for our students to advance their knowledge of the evidence-base of the field and clinical mastery for an entry level practitioner.

We are committed to train the next generation of speech-language pathologists to engage in compassionate care, cultural sensitivity, critical thinking, collaborative practice and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities:

This appointment will be responsible for the coordination and direction of clinical education experiences for graduate students, including tracking of required clinical hours, placements, management of contracts, ensuring qualifications of clinical supervisors at each clinical placements and seeking and developing new community-based clinical sites.

This individual will also teach graduate level clinical coursework, mentoring student research, providing clinical supervision at off-site clinical placements, and making contributions to the curricular and overall program design.

All faculty members are expected to contribute to university, school, department and program level service, including student advisement, engage in scholarly activity and professional development, and support the university, school, department and program’s missions and visions and advance the strategic plan.

OHNS 504 Speech-Language Pathology Methods and Evidence-Based Practice

OHNS 510 Clinical Practicum in Speech-Language Pathology

OHNS 514 Clinical Rotations in Speech-Language Pathology

OHNS 519 Externship in Speech-Language Pathology

We seek applicants with the following qualifications:
Doctoral (e.g.

Ph.D., Ed.D., SLP.D) Degree in communication sciences and disorders or speech-language pathology.

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) is required.

Licensure, or eligible for licensure, in California in speech-language pathology.

Eligible to provide clinical supervision according to ASHA requirements.

Demonstrate adherence to ASHA requirements for certification maintenance in ethics and supervision.

Eight years of experience in clinical practice.

Experience with interprofessional collaborative education/practice, online education, innovative learning platforms and pedagogical methodologies, accreditation and clinical standards.

Supervision experience required.

Experience coordinating or directing speech-language pathology clinical services in a facility, unit, program, school or university.

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience with developing business relationships, marketing and strategic planning desired.

Administrative or supervisorial experience with project management, including contract coordination, development, timeline approvals desired.

Excellent computer literacy skills for clinical administrative purposes.

Experience with CALIPSO desired.

Demonstrates a commitment to promoting a diverse academic environment.

Salary and rank will be based upon qualifications and experience.
