– Internal Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full time Social Worker position.

The incumbent provides psychosocial assessments, intervention, treatment, and discharge planning to patients and families to assist them in coping with their hospitalization, illness, diagnosis or life situations.

The incumbent strives to meet the continuing needs of patients post hospitalization.CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Interviews clients and their families and coordinates programs and activities to meet their social and emotional needs.Provides crisis intervention and assists families in understanding the implications and complexities of the medical situation and its impact on lifestyle.Provides psychosocial assessments of patients and families to identify emotional, social, and environmental problems.Formulates and implements plans utilizing appropriate social work interventions.Collaborates with the healthcare team and involves the patients and families in the development and implementation of plans.Assists with the screening, identification, and management of victims of abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and rape.Makes referrals and serves as a resource for the healthcare team and serves as a patient advocate.Maintains a working knowledge of relevant medical and legal issues and preserves records and statistics.Attends and participates in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Social WorkMinimum 1 year of relevant experienceThe University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida’s only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
