Senior Grant& Contract Officer -Clinical Trials Administration Office

The Senior Grant & Contract Officer (SGCO), as a member of the Clinical Trials Administration Office (CTAO) within the centralized office of Research Administration (ORA), is responsible for the drafting and negotiation of research agreements in furtherance of the strategic vision to create outstanding translational and clinical research in a dynamic environment for medical education.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represents CSHS with minimal supervision in routine and sometimes complex negotiations of research agreements binding the institution. This includes clinical trial agreements, material transfer agreements, data use agreements, sponsored research agreements, industry grants, and confidentiality agreements. May work closely with Legal Affairs and Risk Management attorneys to ensures that the agreed upon terms and conditions adequately meet Principal Investigator (PI) and CSHS requirements.
  • Communicates with PIs, department staff and industry sponsors to provide information and assistance on the process/policies and status of research projects.
  • Determines the nature and scope of the relationship of PIs with industry sponsors, assesses the likelihood of possible intellectual property, and develops the business and legal terms of the research project.
  • Understands and utilizes systems, including accounting, purchasing, human resources, and data systems to assist in the preparation and submission of proposals and contracts.
  • Participates in and may lead Office of Research Administration performance improvement, quality assurance processes, or other projects as needed to keep CSHS a world class research institute and destination for world renowned research scientists.
  • Trains junior grant & contract officers to advance the team’s education and proficiency.
  • Other duties include assisting in the development of internal reference materials and participating in presentations to the CSHS research community related to the successful negotiation and administration of industry funded research and other relevant issues.

 

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree -Business, Sciences, or Liberal Arts

Experience:

4 Years independent administration of research contracts in a central administration office or the equivalent.
