Senior Data Scientist – Digital Health & Innovation (US remote)

HOW MIGHT YOU DEFY IMAGINATION?

If you feel like youre part of something bigger, its because you are.

At Amgen, our shared missionto serve patientsdrives all that we do.

It is key to our becoming one of the worlds leading biotechnology companies.

We are global collaborators who achieve togetherresearching, manufacturing, and delivering ever-better products that reach over 10 million patients worldwide.

Its time for a career you can be proud of.

Senior Data Scientist Digital Health & Innovation (US remote) Live What you will do Lets do this.

Lets change the world.

In this vital role you will be part of the Data Science & Engineering (DS&E) team within the Digital Health & Innovation (DH&I) organization at Amgen.

We collaborate with all functions, from Research to Commercial, to realize the promises of advanced analytics, including AI and ML.

With this position, we initially seek to strengthen our partnership with Research in the area of Disease Biology.

Relevant domain expertise is required.

In addition, the position holder may work on other DS&E projects in any part of the bench-to-bedside pipeline depending on competency, motivation, and opportunity.

This is a senior technical position.

We seek candidates possessing the training, experience, and disposition to own the technical framing and execution of projects; guide junior data or bio scientists in a formal or matrixed fashion; and communicate effectively with and influence a diverse set of constituents: bio, data and manufacturing scientists and engineers, clinical researchers, commercial staff, executives, etc.

Amgen approaches drug discovery and development with a biology first approach, which means that we first seek to understand the fundamental mechanisms of disease.

We explore the complex molecular pathways of disease before determining what modality is most likely to deliver optimal efficacy and safety.

The holder of this position is expected to make direct impact on this approach by enhancing and initiating workstreams in several subareas, including but not limited to the following.

Biomolecular mechanisms of disease Therapy target identification and validation Drug mechanisms of action, response, and off-target effects Patient stratification for risk of disease, response to treatment, risk of adverse effects, etc.

The main therapeutic areas of interest are cardiometabolic disorders, oncology, immunology; and the data that insight is to be generated from include multi-omics, spatial omics, interactome, preclinical, imaging, medical records, etc.

Hands-on familiarity with common methods of supervised and unsupervised machine learning is required.

Additional experience with generative machine learning would be a plus.

Special consideration will be given to candidates able to demonstrate creativity and proficiency in advanced insight-revealing high-dimensional data exploration, and predictive model design and development with integrated interpretability, causality, and parsimony.

Demonstrated evidence of complex data engineering and sound end-to-end software engineering would also be very appealing.

Collaborative opportunities exist in other areas of Research, as well as in Development, Manufacturing Operations, and Commercial Operations.

A non-exhaustive list includes: Optimizing the design and execution of clinical trials for inclusion/exclusion criteria, patient diversity, enrollment uptake, geographic footprint, remote monitoring, etc.

Characterizing patient population for disease risk, treatment responsiveness, adverse outcome of treatment, etc., based on multiple kinds of data, including real-world data.

Generating actionable commercial insight from patient-physician-payer interaction data.
