RN – Interventional Radiology – Palos Verdes UCLA Health – Los Angeles, CA

Responsibilities

The clinical nurse is a professional Registered Nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients using the nursing process in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. The clinical nurse performs in the professional role as described by the American Nurses Association (ANA); engaging in activities related to ethics, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality improvement, leadership, collaboration, professional practice evaluation , resources utilization, environmental health, and patient advocacy as appropriate to clinical nursing practice. The clinical nurse will float to all radiology areas to support scans, diagnostic, and interventional studies.

Qualifications

Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with BSN or MSN
BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
2 years minimum of ICU/Cath Lab/IR required
Ability to wear lead and stand for long periods of time
Must be able to float between all locations that Interventional Radiology covers
Ability to complete a Nursing physical assessment
Ability to implement interventions that are pertinent to goals established in the plan of care.
Skilled at starting IV’s and drawing blood on adult and pediatric populations.
Knowledge of normal cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology.
Skill and ability to respond speedily and accurately with patient needs and physician directions.
Skill in operating physiologic monitoring and scenography equipment and computer skill sets, oxygen tanks, wall suction, defibrillator, custom procedure trays, infusion pumps, all POCT machines, oxygen saturation machine.
Skill and ability to recognize signs and symptoms of patient distress.
Skill and ability to intervene when patient is distressed.
Ability to read, interpret, apply and/or follow physician orders, policies, procedures or written and verbal instructions.
Skill in organizing and prioritizing.
Able to cover all areas of radiology, including the clinical and future radiology area.
