Radiation Therapist – California

Background We are CenterPoint Radiation Oncology, a respected, independent oncology practice in the Los Angeles area providing personalized service and state-of-the-art radiation therapy to ensure the best possible outcome for our cancer patients. Description We are seeking a qualified, experienced Radiation Therapist who will administer prescribed dose of ionizing radiation according to physicians written prescription and established practice policy and procedures, and perform adjuvant procedures which aid in the management of patient care. You will be treating 20+ patients per day using a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator and Aria EHR. You will operate all radiation therapy equipment, set-up and treat patients per our radiation oncologist’s prescription, maintain patient treatment records, provide instruction to patients, practice radiation safety principles, practice sterile technique, maintain assigned work area, and perform other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Ensure the safety of our patients, staff, and visitors to our facility.Perform radiation therapy in accordance with industry and practice policies and standards.Perform associated administrative tasks to plan, execute, document and record services provided.Identify and help resolve any issues that may impact patient and/or staff safety or well-being.Identify opportunities to improve our standard of care, efficiency and/or patient satisfaction. DutiesFollow principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others.Schedule patients for CT simulation and treatment times.Perform morning check and warm-up of TrueBeam linear accelerator and CT, including QC procedures.Perform CT simulationsHelp radiation oncologists, or clinical physicists to prepare physical or technical aspects of radiation treatment plans, using information about patient condition and anatomy.Provide assistance to other healthcare personnel during dosimetry procedures and tumor localization.Prepare or construct equipment, such as immobilization, treatment, or protection devices.Educate, prepare, and reassure patients and their families by answering questions, providing physical assistance, and reinforcing physicians’ advice regarding treatment reactions or post-treatment care.Conduct most treatment sessions independently, in accordance with the long-term treatment plan and under the general direction of the patient’s physician.Check radiation therapy equipment to ensure proper operation.Review prescription, diagnosis, patient chart, and identification.Position patients for treatment with accuracy, according to prescription.Photograph set-up and treated area of patient and capture in patient record.Enter data into computer and set controls to operate or adjust equipment or regulate dosage.Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards.Observe and reassure patients during treatment and report unusual reactions to physician or turn equipment off if unexpected adverse reactions occur.Calculate actual treatment dosages delivered during each session.Check for side effects, such as skin irritation, nausea, or hair loss to assess patients’ reaction to treatment.Maintain records, reports, or files as required, including such information as radiation dosages, equipment settings, or patients’ reactions.Train or supervise subordinate radiotherapy technologists, as needed.Act as liaison with physicist and supportive care personnel.Other duties as assigned QualificationsGraduate of an accredited radiation therapy technology programCurrent ARRT certificationActive CRT license from State of CaliforniaCurrent negative TB testCurrent BLS cardFour (4) or more years of experience as an RTTOne (1) or more years of experience with Varian TrueBeam and Aria EHRWorked as an RTT within the last yearUS citizen Successful CandidateReliable, organized, works effectively with limited direct supervisionExcellent interpersonal relations and oral/written communication skillsQuickly learns and understands our practices, policies, and cultureFriendly, professional, good team playerAbility to prioritize, organize, and coordinate patient careMaintains and promotes positive public relations image and working relationships for the practiceObtains necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competenceCompletes all mandatory requirements, including annual safety films, CPR, infection control, etc.Participates in the development and attainment of practice goals and objectivesUnderstands and adheres to HIPAA privacy and security regulationsUnderstands and adheres to local pandemic prevention guidelines Skills Proficient in Varian Aria EHR and TrueBeam linear accelerator control systems Compensation PackageCompetitive Base Salary plus BenefitsReimburse up to $10K in relocation expenses Benefits (full-time employees only)Paid Vacation and Sick TimeMedical / Dental / Vision InsuranceHealth savings account401(k) with Employer ContributionWaiting period may apply Other We prohibit discrimination against qualified individuals based on their status as protected veterans or individuals with disabilities, and prohibit discrimination against all individuals based on their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation/gender identity or any other category protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
