Providence is calling a Operating Room Technician (Full-time/Evening-shift) to Providence Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, CA.

This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

We are seeking a Operating Room Technician who will report to the Nurse Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting the operating room staff members in providing pre and post-operative care to patients.

Specific areas of responsibility include: patient transportation, patient transfer within the operating rooms, holding retractors as assigned, shave preps, and assisting with clerical functions.

In this position you will: SERVICE: Promote patient, physician and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect Support and participate in activities that foster customer service.

Communicate and follows the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate PEOPLE: Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education Attend and successfully completes general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements Participate actively in department staff meetings Demonstrate mastery of verbal and written communications Provide care that considers physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs of patients Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to provide care in emergency situations and follows established emergency procedures and practices Demonstrate competence in the clinical knowledge, skills required, and technology utilized in the department Assist in coordination of student clinical experience Demonstrate willingness & ability to float to areas within their scope of practice as necessary Demonstrate knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and observing skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and/or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner.

Applicable for the populations: Infant, Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric Maintain and demonstrates knowledge of sterile techniques Assist the RN in preparing the environment and the patient for each case assigned appropriately and timely Scrub and assists for all surgeries/procedures and deliveries as assigned Assist the surgeon during the case by providing requested/required equipment/instruments/medications/supplies during and after the case Work with the RN to prepare and maintain environment that is clean, safe, and adequately stocked with sterile and non-sterile supplies, assists in charging for supplies and equipment Demonstrate knowledge of surgical anatomy, procedure, instrumentation, and has the ability to assist the primary surgeon when necessary when holding retractors and cutting sutures Assist in assuring that equipment is in good repair and initiates appropriate steps when problems are identified Maintain and ensures the proper handling of specialty equipment/instrumentation Perform duties related to instrument care, use, maintenance, lubricating, counting, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization Assist in the ordering of new instruments and notifies managers of supplies that need to be reordered Set up and checks all instruments before a procedure Deliver ordered medications/drugs from pharmacy or pharmacy location for OR use Handle specimens appropriately to ensure correct processing Take call as scheduled Qualifications: Required qualifications for this position includes: Successfully completed training as a surgical technician at an accredited school Current BLS-HCP Current LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire Demonstrate knowledge of surgical anatomy, procedure, instrumentation, and has the ability to assist the primary surgeon when necessary when holding retractors and cutting sutures Preferred qualifications for this position include: National Certification ORT One (1) year of experience in acute care setting About the hospital you will serve.
