Providence is calling a Clinical Specialty Nurse (RN) in Oncology/Hematology (Full time/Day shift) to our Providence Facey Medical Foundation in Mission Hills, CA.We are seeking a Clinical Specialty Nurse (RN) in Oncology/Hematology who will provide professional patient care for all patients following established standards and practices.

Serves as a role model for Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants and LVNs by providing leadership which fosters positive attitudes and change, as well as supports management policies and procedures.

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care of patients undergoing oncology/hematology procedures.In this position you will:Perform job functions timely and efficiently utilizing knowledge of advanced nursing principles Deliver upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards.

Reports any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline Perform basic patient care skills including, but not limited to, monitoring of vital signs, ECG and pulse oximetry, administering IV, IM and Sub-Q and oral medications, taking patient histories, giving aftercare instructions, assisting with procedures, utilizing sterile technique, and accounting for medications and narcotics.

Mixing, infusing and disposing of oncology drug agents per OSHA guidelines.

Infusing of intravenous fluids per physician orders.

Accessing central lines per policy and procedure Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal direction, adjusting to changes in workload acuity Schedule patients for Oncology/Hematology consultations and procedures Provide pre and post procedures and prepares information for patients regarding care plans Establish an IV line and administers medications as written by physician Perform assessment on all patients undergoing the infusion of drugs in the oncology department Assist the physician with diagnostic and oncology/hematology procedures Document actions and interventions, outcomes and responses of patients to treatment Provide accurate, complete, legible and timely documentation of all nursing procedures in the medical record Demonstrate effective nursing judgment and a thorough knowledge of nursing procedures and practices Communicate clinically significant information to the physician, including but not limited to, abnormal test results, patient concerns and changes in the patient’s condition Follow correct procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous infectious waste Perform daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance Order and maintain current inventories of medication and supplies Check for outdated medication on a monthly basis Comply with all application infection control and safety procedures Assist with the development of policies and procedures related to function of the department Perform quality improvement activities for department.

Participates in clinical trials studies Demonstrates awareness of current state, federal and local laws governing the delivery of care Use appropriate reporting mechanisms as required by state laws Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients Obtain appropriate authorizations and consents for treatment Provide open and timely communication with patients, families and their significant others Provide sufficient information to allow patients and their significant others to participate in the patient’s care Provide educational resources to the patient/family as appropriate Demonstrates commitment to education and sharing of knowledge Assist in the orientation of new personnel to the office Obtain ongoing education consistent with level and area of practice Maintain current American Heart Association ACLS, American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers and other appropriate licensure/certifications Participate regularly in Quality Improvement audits and activitiesQualifications:Required qualifications for this position include:Graduate of a recognized Registered Nursing program Current California RN license ACLS American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers 2 years RN experience 1 year experience in oncology/hematology 2 years Ambulatory/hospital experience Knowledge of surgery scheduling, IV medication protocol, triage, and patient education/assessment skillsPreferred qualifications for this position include:Basic Chemo Infusion Certification OCN (Oncology Certification Nurse) certificationAbout the organization you will serve:Facey Medical Group is a multi-specialty medical group with over 160 physicians providing care to the growing population in the North & East regions of Los Angeles & Ventura Counties.
