Fulfill all duties and responsibilities associated with the unit manager position.
Demonstrate proficiency in delivering care to assigned age specific patient population (e.G., infants, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, pediatrics), and participate in related continuing education.In this position you will:Demonstrate Providence Health & System – Southern California’s core values of respect, justice, compassion, and excellence to customers, employees, and visitors; and provide quality service in the performance of work assignments and dutiesMaintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement process, safety, environmental and infection control standardsPrepare budget and adheres to budgetary standardsDemonstrate clinical expertise in the execution of the Nursing process and directs staff in its applicationSelect, train/orient, assign department staff, evaluate performance, and make recommendations for personnel actionsEnsure that nursing standards and practices are developed and metDemonstrate proactive leadership skills of delegation, organization, and coordination in running assigned unit; delegates these responsibilities as appropriatePortray and promote effective communication on the nursing unit with staff, physicians, patients/families/significant others, and other departmentsEstablish and implement unit goals and objectives in keeping with department and hospital goals and mission.
Act as liaison between Administration and the Medical staffPromote a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient careIdentify needs, plan independently and in conjunction with others for the clinical and leadership development of staffPlan for appropriate and safe staffing levelsProtect patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communicationsSupervise, institute, and evaluate nursing interventionsEnhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshopsProvide nursing supervisory coverage for day/evening shift on assigned dayAttend administrative meetings and actively participate on task forces and committeesMaintain departmental reports and record and collect statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposesQualifications:Required qualifications for this position include:Bachelor’s Degree or Bachelor’s in progressAmerican Heart Association BLS certification for Healthcare ProvidersCalifornia Licensed Registered Nurse3 years recent clinical experienceAbout the ministry you will serve:The Sub-Acute Care Center at Providence Little Company of Mary in San Pedro, the largest in California, is devoted to the treatment and care of patients with unique needs like ventilator and tracheostomy dependency.
