The Oncology Medical Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist will focus on staff development and lead efforts related to the identification, implementation and evaluation of unit specific education, patient education and evidence-based practice.
The Medical Surgical Oncologic Clinical Nurse Specialist will report to the Director of Education and the Medical Surgical Director and will work with a well-trained and tenured staff of RN’s.
The Oncology Med Surg Senior Nurse Specialist will focus on the following: orientation, competency program, in-service education, continuing education, career development/role transition, and research.
The Oncology Department Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will educate the staff in 45 bed mix of Pediatric Oncology, pulmonary and medical/surgical patients. The Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will collaborate with the Hospitalists, Oncologists and Case Managers to maximize the plan of care for our patients.
The Oncology CNS will assess the learning needs of the Oncology unit nursing staff and will develop and implement evidence-based education programs for all Cancer Center unit related needs. The Cancer Center Clinical Educator will work closely with unit doctors and nurses.
The Oncology CNS will report directly to the Nurse Manager of Oncology and will collaborate with hospital wide Educators. Key responsibilities will include: managing educational resources for the Oncology patients, teaching professional standards for best practice, and maintaining knowledge and skill providing care the Cancer Center patients.
