We are part of a larger purpose where each of our contributions are influential no matter which position, we occupyAbout the role:The Staff Occupational Therapist is responsible for patient evaluations, program development, program implementation and the utilization of techniques and modalities necessary to provide competent occupational therapy services to patients. Work is full time during weekdays with occasional evening and weekend work. Work is performed at the clinic with some work occasionally at the residential site or in the community.A high degree of accuracy in electronic documentation and observation, adaptability to a variety of situations, ability to utilize technology, strong organizational and communication skills, decision making and an ability to evaluate situations as they occur is needed for this position.What you’ll do:Administers initial evaluations, identifies major problems, develops treatment plan (goals and management), and administers patient therapy programs (i.e. range of motion). Reviews and update patient programs through interim evaluations. Performs on-site job, home, power tools and height evaluations.Performs reporting procedures.Consults with patients, insurance representatives, families and therapists from various clinic disciplines to instruct, advise or inform them of procedures and tests. Communicates with outside ancillary services, e.g. neuro-optometrist, neurologist, etc. as needed.Stays informed of all patient programs in the department.Instructs clinic aides of treatment plan to be completed daily. Supervises clinic aides and students and is available at all times to provide advice or treatment.Provides for the safety of patients, visitors, staff and self when interacting with patients who may have behavioral outbursts, which can include yelling, exiting, hitting, kicking, biting, spitting, scratching, and throwing objects.Performs toilet and chair transfers without assistance for patients up to 150 pounds utilizing approved transfer techniques. Transfer techniques include standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
