The Occupational Health & Safety Manager is responsible for oversight, planning, prevention, compliance, resolution, and training for all safety and threat management issues at the Akron Zoo.
This is a primary role in making the zoo welcoming and accessible to all while managing the Zoo’s safety programs.
This is a highly visible and collaborative role with all staff and managers requiring outstanding investigative, influencing and interpersonal skills.
Essential Job Functions:
– Safety Management: Conduct safety audits, and analyze/inspect work hazard.
– Staff Training: Create and implement scheduled drills and required trainings.
– Occupation Health: Serve as the facility OSHA compliance officer including audits, trainings and maintaining/posting the OSHA 300 log as required.
– Capital Construction Projects: Represent staff and facility safety needs during project planning, Monitor/audit contractors’ awareness and compliances with OSHA regulatory requirements.
Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in health, safety and environmental (HSE) or 4 years equivalent experience Required certifications (or be willing to obtain): OSHA 300 certification HAZWOPPER 40-hr certification CPR/AED certification Must have a valid driver’s license The Akron Zoo is a Drug-Free Workplace and an EOE.
