Overview:The Clinical Education Nurse provides staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, preceptor, leader and researcher across the entities of AltaMed. He/She supports the development of all Allied Health staff (including Certified Nursing Assistants, Medical Assistants, Licensed Vocational Nurses and Registered Nurses) and fosters empowerment through knowledge resulting in first class delivery of health services and excellent patient satisfaction. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, this position is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate to meet the needs of the diverse units within AltaMed. Responsibilities:Lead, plans, assesses, organizes, develops and implements employee training programs designed to orient employees, improve job skills, and develop potential capabilities, to meet AltaMed’s Strategic Plans and the Training needs of the Organization.Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation while ensuring that educational programs are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals.Monitor employee development through instructor led, webinars, LMS, and/or simulation training programs, ensuring personal and organizational workforce skills upgrade targets are achieved.Coordinates onboarding and delivers competence based programs for new and existing allied health staff with a focus on improving skills and knowledge retention.Develops evidence-based educational materials and adjusts content and teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs.Supports staff development with educational activities (which include remediation, certification, mentoring, state mandated compliance requirements, product roll-outs, etc.).Conducts needs assessments for nursing staff in a variety of clinical areas.Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programs using a variety of assessments tools.Evaluates the performance of the allied health staff and provides feedback to supervisors and managers for improvement.Mentor allied health staff by assisting in assessing patients, working with physicians and other staff to improve the quality of nursing care.Serves as an educational consultant to facilities, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure and program.Responds to changes in nursing practice and develops programs to support these changes.Maintains required educational and/or clinical competencies, and training records.Leads committees and projects related to the implementation of educational activities.Incorporates current educational evidence into individual practice as a staff development expert.Coordinates educational activities, includes continuing education and clinical affiliations across AltaMed.Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.Current valid License as a Registered Nurse through the California Board of Registered Nursing required.A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an adult care setting required coupled with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator preferred.Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required (maintain current at all times).
