Nurse Practitioner – Geriatrics/Dementia Care

Responsibilities

Join our team as a Nurse Practitioner for the UCLA Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Program:

The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs).

By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725).

The NP will provide and coordinate the care of patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care.

The NP also participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals and documents services rendered.

The role is 40% clinical for the UCLA Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Program and 60% research/training/dissemination for the UCLA Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Program.

Under the general supervision of the Medical Director (for 40% clinical) and the Director of (all other responsibilities).

Qualifications

MSN/DNP in NP Specialty : Adult
– Gerontology Primary Care, Adult-Gero Acute Care, or FNP -required
CA RN and CA NP license -required
BLS Certification from ARC or AHA -required
National Certification in NP Specialty
– required
Experience 3 years of NP experience including at least one as a Dementia Care Specialist
– required
Additional: NPI #, DEA #,
Enrollment in PECOS, Enrollment in CURES
Ability to utilize excel, word and other software programs
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel
Skill in working independently and following through with minimum direction
Ability to set priorities
Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondence
Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner
