The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner II (NNP) is an advanced practice nurse who provides medical services to neonates, including diagnosis and comprehensive management of acute and chronic conditions.
Service include, but are not limited to ordering, conducting, interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescription of pharmacologic agents and treatments and non-pharmacologic therapies in a cost efficient manner.
Works autonomously as well as in collaboration variety of NICU staff to diagnose and manage neonates in an intensive care setting.
Serve as health care resources, interdisciplinary consultants and patient advocates.
Scope of practice includes clinical management, education and standards for professional practice.
The NNP demonstrates commitment to a patient and family focused model of care.
Qualifications: Masters of Science degree in Nursing from an NLN accredited graduate school.
Graduate of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for “hold out as Neonatal Nurse Practitioner”, as defined in Section 1482, Nurse Practice Act, Business and professional Code.
Current California Registered Nurse License and current certification as a NNP.
National certification is preferred; eligible for Furnishing License preferred.
Minimum requirements: 2 years NNP experience required and experience in a Level III NICU strongly preferred.
NCC eligible or certification required.
