PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

HealthRight 360 is a 200 bed residential facility for adult men who are in custody and on parole. We provide comprehensive substance use disorder and mental health services. Treatment episode ranges in time from 6 months to 12 months. HealthRight 360 is a fast-based environment where communication is paramount in order to provide cutting edge services to men in a residential treatment setting as well as their families. Our goal is to reintegrate persons served back into the community with the necessary skills to remain substance and crime free.

JOB SUMMARY

The Mental Health Director provides administrative and clinical oversight to a team of therapists, mental health trainees, and wellness center staff working in the 6th Street residential program, which specializes in working with the criminal justice population. The Mental Health Director coordinates all mental health services, develops, and oversees Mental Health clinical programming, in addition has oversight of the Wellness Center. The Mental Health Director conducts staff hiring, scheduling and supervision; monitors utilization and client/services tracking; ensures departmental compliance with laws, ethical standards, and contract requirements; performs internal audits to support the accuracy of records and helps staff to correct errors in documentation and medical records

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Responsibilities: Ensures that the programs provide relevant, quality, trauma-informed mental health services via individual therapy, group therapy and other milieu interventions. Develops, coordinates, and oversees all Mental Health clinical programming. Trains clinical staff to conduct clinical groups and classes. Performs ongoing reassessments of clinical programming for relevancy and effectiveness. Implements evidence-based interventions and treatment models. Provides consultation to all clinical staff. Trains staff and student therapists in crisis intervention strategies and other interventions. Provides on-going training to clinical staff in principles and skills for working with clients impacted by trauma and mental illness. Supports the Department’s training initiatives.

Oversight of the Wellness Center staff including monitoring, storing, destruction, and tracking of medication. Establishes policies and procedures, trains staff, and oversees compliance. Coordinates medication delivery and liaison with pharmacy, physicians, and CDCR regarding medication and medical needs of residents.

Directorial Responsibilities: Supervises mental health staff and collaborates with clinical staff to ensure quality clinical services. Maintains liaison with other clinical management. Coordinates and oversees therapy services. Coordinates and oversees psychiatric services. Maintains staff scheduling. Maintains clinical schedule. Assigns mental health referrals to therapists and therapists in training.

Administrative/Compliance Responsibilities: In accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT 360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements, ensures that staff maintains accurate documentation on all clients. Ensures that utilization targets for specific contracts are met and oversees the department’s documentation efforts to ensure quality and timeliness. Conduct internal chart audits for and with therapists. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Perform weekly tracking and reconciliation of mental health services. Coordinates with staff to correct all Electronic Medical Records (EMR) discrepancies within a timely manner. Act as liaison to the IT Department and Welligent Support Team.

EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

Required:

LMFT, LCSW or Psy.D. or Ph.D.

-Minimum two years of experience in dual diagnosis substance abuse treatment in an inpatient setting.

Background Clearance

Required:

-Clear with OIG database

-CDCR (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation)

Knowledge

Required:

-Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population

-Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications

-Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency

Desired:

-Knowledge of DBT, CBT, MI, and trauma-based treatment highly desirable

-Knowledge of trauma, co-occurring disorders, and substance abuse treatment

Knowledge of Clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes etc.)

-Experience working with criminal justice population

-Ability to manage and interpret reports and data from EMR software

-Bilingual Spanish Speaking
