ResponsibilitiesAs the Medical Student Coordinator in the Department of Surgery, you will provide direct support to the Clerkship Directors for the 3rd and 4th Year medical students, Sub I and 199 course (undergraduate).
The medical student coordinator will serve as the executive coordinator for the DGSOM.
The primary responsibilities for the coordinator include but not limited to day-to-day operational for medical student clerkship activities; ensure compliance with LCME regulations; create rotation schedules and distribute to the surgical departments, divisions and site coordinators and proctors the medical student National Board Medical Examiners (NBME) exam; handles personal and confidential information in a professional manner, participates in discussions concerning the curriculum and learning objectives.
In this role, you will also manage logistical and operational aspects of all class sessions; prepare and manage course syllabus, supporting materials, and evaluations; planning OSCE and simulation activities; maintain and update Gryphon; send and compile faculty, resident and medical student evaluations;Qualifications+ Demonstrated ability to interact with faculty, administrators, and others in a knowledgeable, confident, pleasant, and professional manner, include the ability to effectively function as a source of departmental authority regarding student issues.+ Demonstrated experience in a post-graduate medical education program environment, encompassing a thorough understanding of residency training program requirements.+ Demonstrated budgeting and accounting skills to assign account numbers and maintain database systems to track funding sources.+ Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.+ Demonstrated ability to make group presentations.+ Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks for support staff, including management of special projects.+ Demonstrated in-depth understanding of database management, word processing, and spreadsheet analysis.+ Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel records, transcripts, and other information.+ Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and the flexibility to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.+ Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines within a demanding, fast-paced work environment.+ Demonstrated ability to independently compose professional, succinct correspondence.In-depth working knowledge of MS Access, including data manipulation and extraction, form design, and database development, Word, and Excel.+ Ability to work some evenings and weekends.+ Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and accurate medical student files.+ Working knowledge of University policies and procedures.+ Working knowledge of UCLA School of Medicine policies and procedures strongly preferredUCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
