Academic appointment on clinical track will be commensurate with experience and academic performance. The modalities the physics group supports include computed tomography, MRI, mammography, interventional angiography, fluoroscopy, digital radiography, and nuclear medicine. The incumbent is expected to practice in radiation imaging as well as in MRI physics (preferred). Under the direction of the chief physicist and in collaboration with physicians, administrators, technologists, and others, the incumbent is responsible for assuring diagnostic image quality and radiation dose optimization for diagnostic imaging devices. We emphasize direct impact on clinical practice through physics approach. What’s this role all about? The major components of the duty are physics practice, education, and clinical research. The incumbent will demonstrate continuous self-improvement, make effective contributions to sections, adhere to Cedars-Sinai compliance plans, codes of conduct and hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The responsibilities include Reviews and tune clinical protocols to assure safe and optimal use of imaging devices. Creative solutions are especially encouraged. Conducts acceptance tests and annual physics surveys on imaging devices following national and state standards. Preferably supports MRI practice including but not limited to MRI safety for patients and staff, MRI image quality optimization, functional MRI studies, and clinical trials. Oversees the in-house developed quality assurance program and plays vital roles in ACR/ICA accreditations. Implements appropriate action as needed. Tracks radiation dose and maintains compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies. Performs patient dose calculations from various imaging modalities as needed. Teaches courses to radiology residents, technologists, graduate students, and physicians on imaging physics, safe use of imaging devices, image optimization, and other topics as needed. Designs appropriate radiation shielding for site planning. Participates in clinical imaging research projects. Submits abstracts to national conferences and publishes the findings.
