Medical Director-Clinical Associate or Assistant Professor of Family Medicine (Clinician Educator)

The Department of Family Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine of USC (DFM) is seeking a full-time physician to join the faculty practice and serve as Medical Director.
The ideal candidate will have 4+ years’ experience in primary care clinical administration and be skilled in management, business operations, practice development, team building and quality improvement programs.
This candidate will take pride in providing exceptional comprehensive, full spectrum, high quality care in a patient centered way.
They will embrace the Family Medicine approach of caring for those who are ill by promoting wellness through high-tech and holistic approaches to all ages.
Candidate is expected to show evidence of qualifications through letters of recommendation, completion of an accredited residency training program, board certification and a California medical license.
Eligibility for appointment at the Assistant Professor level or higher is also required.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Assists the Vice-Chair of Clinical Affairs and Clinical Administrator in providing operational and administrative leadership to the DFM private practice.
Estimated 40% of time.
Meets regularly with current medical and behavioral health clinicians in all outpatient DFM clinic settings.
Gathers input from clinicians on changes in operational processes and supports the development and achievement of programs and practices.
Provides feedback to clinicians on professionalism and productivity.
Conducts and/or coordinates appropriate training for optimal service and competency.
Reviews and approves time-off requests.
Oversees private practice operations and innovations to increase quality of care, joy in practice, and patient satisfaction.
Recommends strategy for quality and process improvements, clinical expansion and productivity growth.
Represents the DFM at various ambulatory quality, clinical practice, risk management, and patient experience committees at the Keck Medical Center.
Collaborates with hospital operations management to enhance clinical efficiencies and team collaboration.
Clinical Responsibilities:
Builds and maintains an active outpatient panel.
Estimated 60% of time.
Obtains detailed and accurate medical histories from patients.
Performs appropriate physical examinations, delineates problems, and records the information in the electronic health record.
Develops patient centered care plans that incorporate counseling on healthy lifestyle choices, preventative medical care and psychosocial stressors, as well as coordination of referrals to specialty and behavioral health services.
Performs and/or interprets common laboratory, radiological, and other routine diagnostic procedures
– as needed.
Performs medical procedures/examinations such as: physical exams, minor procedures, pap Smears, suturing and wound care and caring for adults and children with acute and chronic conditions.
Provides continuity of care in the management of complex illnesses.
Participates on call panel for ill or injured patients and those seeking medical advice after hours.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Required Experience:
Someone with at least 4 years’ experience as a Medical Director in primary care clinics Data driven, quality improvement processes/projects results Methodologies for data driven healthcare delivery Creating and empowering high functioning teams Cultivating positive and collaborative team culture Oversight of clinics with med students and residents
