JOB SUMMARY FOR MEDICAL CODER: Epitec is looking for one (1) Medical Coder for a health care client in Minnesota.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MEDICAL CODER: Making sure that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulations Complying with medical coding guidelines and policies Receiving and reviewing patients’ charts and documents for verification and accuracy Following up and clarifying any information that is not clear to other staff members Collecting information made by the Physician from different sources to prepare monthly reports Implementing strategic procedures and choosing strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results Examining any medical malpractice that has been reported by analyzing and identifying the medical procedures, diagnoses or events that lead to the negligence REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR MEDICAL CODER: AS degree or Equivalent in Health Information Management 3 years’ experience in coding with primary focus in facility and pro fee coding Nationally recognized coding credential required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P, or CPC Understanding of Microsoft products including Outlook, Excel and Word.
Proven ability to review, analyze, and research coding issues.
Reimbursement policy and/or claims software analyst experience Knowledge of claims editing software and rules development
