Medical Assistant II-Venice

ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision of staff R.N., L.V.N. and L.V.N supervisor, you will assist clinical staff of the primary care clinic in normal aspects of delivery of health care to clinic population.  This includes interviewing patients, taking vital signs, recording services in patient charts, as well as in-clinic procedures, e.g., tympanometry and audiometry.  In this role, you will also conduct screening tests such as UA and pregnancy tests.  You will  also assist medical providers with translation and will be responsible for other clinic duties as assigned within Venice Family Clinic.  This is a limited, 6-month position.*Limited, may become careerQualifications* Medical Assistant Certification/Diploma from an accredited program* Ability to perform tympanometry and audiometry * Ability to perform lab-screening tests such as UA and pregnancy* Working knowledge of general medical and laboratory procedures * Working knowledge of medical terminology to record medical complaints in patient’s charts * Skill in writing concise and logical sentences to record pertinent information in patient’s charts * Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using concise and appropriate vocabulary to obtain information and explain procedures to patients * Ability to understand and carefully transmit spoken and written instructions * English/Spanish oral skills to communicate information * Skill in interacting with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds * Experience working with homeless and/or/mentally ill clients is preferredUCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
