Job DescriptionUnder the clinical supervision of the Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP), the Medical Assistant (MA) II will perform non-invasive, routine technical supportive services related to therapeutic and diagnostic functions while following established procedures, and techniques. The Medical Assistant also provides a variety of administrative, assistive & supportive clinical andoutreach activities. Reports to: Direct & Administrative: Registered Nurse Supervisor or Program Manager or Associate Administrator or designeeProfessional/Technical: Registered Nurse Supervisor in consultation with the LIP Varied and depends on Clinical Area (Family Medicine, Women S Health, Public Health Services, & Programs, etc.)Qualifications:1. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.2. Completion of state approved training for Medical Assistants and training (Calif. Business & Professional Code 2069,2070; and Calif. Code of Regulations 1377, 1377.1) relating to the performance of injections, skin testing, and withdrawal of blood.3. Must have 3 or more years of Medical Assistant experience plus one or more of the following:A. Certified by EYEPAC S for performing retinal screeningb. Certified as a Lactation Educator in Pediatrics or Women S Healthc. Certified as a Family Planning Health Worker by Essential Access Health, every 3 years.D. Trained as Permanent Contraception Counselor e. Counselor in Pregnancy Options Counseling, every 5 years.F. Completed a 4-hour Motivational Interview trainingg. Coordinates vaccines in department or for the health center and has completed the appropriate VFC/VFA online training *h. Manages supply inventory for health center or department (orders, inventories medical supplies) *i. For family medicine staff, must have completed State approved audiometric, vision and BMI training by CHDP. Items with ** the NEVHC Site Administrator must attest in writing to the MA performance of these current duties in a memo to the HR department. 4. For all positions, regardless of clinical areas assigned, must:A. Have completed a minimum of 4,160 hours (2 full years) of paid previous experience as a Medical Assistant, including the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities as required for an MA I for that clinical area.B. Is able to use EHRc. Is able to satisfactorily serve as a guide/mentor to new employees within the same job description.5. Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, in compliance with corporate CPR Policy.6. Displays qualities of dependability and reliability, be willing to accept a variety of tasks, and able to comprehend quickly and follow instructions accurately.7. Be able to communicate tactfully and empathetically, with cultural sensitivity; with staff and patients. 8. Write and print legibly.9. Be well groomed and display mature behavior.10. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.11. Must be willing and able to work a varied and flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of NEVHC and its patients.12. Must maintain or exceed competency levels as established by corporate standards for clinical practice.13. Must demonstrate through written and/or oral testing, the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He or she is able to identify and categorize each patient age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients.14. Fluency in English (speaks, read and write).15. Fluency in Spanish (speaks, translate, read and write) and must have completed the mandatory Medical Interpretation course offered at NEVHC.16. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information.17.
