Medical Assistant: Family practice setting;

  • Uses, protects, protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
  • Must possess a current CPR certificate.
  • Able to perform under supervision venipuncture, administerimmunizations and vaccinations, conduct and manage the lab.
  • Maintains various lab equipment and adequate stock levels of consumables in laboratory area. Responsible for the ordering and maintaining of all lab supplies and refrigerated medications. Ensures all refrigerated medications are current and properly disposed of if outdated/expired. Responsible for maintaining refrigerator temperature logs.
  • Monitors OSHA compliance for the laboratory.
  • Enters all test requisitions and encounters are in the computer.
  • Maintains patient medical records in accordance with Company policy and maintains proper assembly of medical records.
  • Under supervision Front and Back office duties
  • Responsible for maintaining stock of medications and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Report to manager given tasks.
  • Flexible schedule to include am or pm shift and weekends.
  • Must have consistent, punctual and reliable attendance.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Strong phlebotomy skills.
  • Ability to evaluate patient needs, administer prescribed medications, assist medical provider with examinations and treatment, prepare and apply dressings, and instruct patients in health measures and self-care as instructed by the medical provider.
  • Ability to document and report findings and observations.
  • Ability to perform EKGs.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to interact and verbally communicate effectively with patients and all levels of personnel in a professional, courteous and effective manner with excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high paced environment with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to work with general guidance.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Requires flexibility wit schedule and weekend shifts
  • Ability to read, speaks, write, and understand the English and Spanish language fluently.
  • Requires knowledge of Health Plans, Elegibility, basic billing.
  • Must be flexible with schedule. Weekend and evening shifts included. Must be flexible traveling to various clinics.
  • 2 or more years of front and back office .
