Job Description Salary: DOE Oasis Detox currently has open positions for an LVN at our detox and residential substance abuse facilty in Chatsworth Minimum Qualifications: ● Current LVN Licensure ● Have experience working with clients in need of medical assistance. ● Knowledge of Detox Medications ● Current First Aid/CPR Certification and TB Test ● Maintain a valid California State Driver’s license at all times ● Able to read, analyze, and interpret policies and directions and present information effectively, both orally and in writing ● Ability to deal with chemically dependent individuals non-judgmentally and with caring and compassion ● Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with other staff as well as with referral sources Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Overseeing all aspects of the Incidental Medical Services and Detoxification Process including; 1. Obtaining medical histories. 2. Monitoring health status to determine whether the health status warrants transfer of the client in order to receive urgent or emergent care. 3. Testing associated with detoxification from alcohol or drugs. 4. Providing alcoholism or drug abuse recovery or treatment services. 5. Over-seeing client self-administered medications. 6. Treating substance use disorders, including detoxification. ● Orientation for new clients ● Implements care in accordance to the program procedures established by the offsite Physician ● Assess, monitor and communicate observations and findings with other members of the treatment team. ● Comply with all program policies and procedures, as well as all state and accreditation standards. ● Duties include: ○ Monitoring client intake of medications and documenting as needed, treatments, inoculations, and tests as allowed by law ○ Implementing verbal physician orders and authenticating in writing in the client’s chart ○ Communicating with physicians, nurses, and pharmacists ○ Completing other tasks within their scope of practice and the program policies and procedures ● Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, including transcribing and administering routine and prescribed medications in accordance with procedures established by the Health Care Practitioner ● Records client observations and activities in client records accurately and timely in accordance with medical standards and organizational policy and procedure ● Screens and provides first response to pregnant and post-partum mothers in residential program, including obtaining health history on mother, screening for TB and contagious disease, and screening accidents and medical complaints, e.g., cuts, earaches, sore throats, reported pain, etc., making referrals to appropriate resources when necessary ● Actively and compassionately interacts with clients to encourage engagement in treatment after completion of detoxification ● Maintains a safe and sanitary environment applying principles of medical asepsis and applying infection control techniques and universal precautions ● Provides client education on health care, as assigned or appropriate ● Implements safety and emergency procedures during fire drills and other disaster procedures, with assistance to clients in the detox and residential programs ● Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings ● Follows all policies and procedures with regard to client information protection, including alcohol drug client confidentiality (42 CFR) and HIPAA (45 CFR) ● Attends training on chemical dependency as required by employer ● Maintains and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines ● Other duties as assigned
