Job Title: LVN Employee Health Coordinator

Job Summary:

A Licensed Nurse trained in hospital occupational health responsible for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of employee injuries; educating employees about work safety and implementation of employee health policies and procedures that meet the standards of The Joint Commission, OSHA, Public Health Department, and Center for Disease Control requirements. The EH Coordinator reports to the Director of Quality and CNO.

Essential Job Duties:

The EH LVN Coordinator, under the supervision of the department director, ensures that the objectives of the department are met. This responsibility may include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Demonstrates awareness and adherence to legal requirements pertinent to employee health and safety.
  • Facilitates health screenings of prospective employees to ensure they meet health requirements prior to start of employment; and all other employees and volunteers according to hospital policy. Also conducts follow-up skin testing for all employee TB exposures.
  • Promotes employee safety and well being through implementation of the hospital’s immunization program as directed by APIC, OSHA, CDC and other regulatory agencies. Promotes the application of organizational and departmental policies relating to infection control involving, but not limited to, isolation procedures and techniques, sterilization procedures, the safe disposal of infectious and contaminated wastes, and prevention of cross-infection through equipment use.
  • Serve as a role model for the Vision, Mission and Values of the organization and fulfills other job duties as requested within Scope of Practice.
  • Maintains current competencies as well as updated knowledge in specific area of practice.

Communication/Knowledge:

  • Possess strong organizational skills including the ability to plan, prioritize, analyze and execute on multiple tasks and adapt to changing environment.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills including the willingness to pursue roles with increasing levels of accountability, coaching, teaching, inspiring, forgoing alliances, and garnering situations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate with various individuals both inside and outside the organization; and able to understand and create reports / presentations /proposals.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Proficient with computer systems including but not limited to MS Office.

Education/Experience:

  • At least 1 year experience in the acute hospital setting

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current LVN license in good standing by the California State Board of Nursing
  • Current BLS for Health Care Provider card
