Job Description The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) I/II/III provides a variety of administrative, clinical nursing, health education, and outreach services within the community health center. Basic skills for physical assessment include observation, auscultation, palpation and percussion. Basic mental status assessment includes observation of general behavior, appearance and attitude, collection of data relative to sensorium or orientation to time, person and place, and assessment of recall ability. When the LVN notes a problem, complication or abnormality, he/she must notify the Physician or Registered Nursing Supervisor under whose direction the licensee functions. The LVN cannot independently evaluate or synthesize data. Reports to: Registered Nursing Supervisor or Program Manager Direct & Administrative: Director of Nursing Services Professional/Technical: Varied and depends on Clinical Area(Women’s Health; Public Health Services & Programs, etc.) Qualifications: 1. Must be a high school graduate or have a General Education Development (GED) certificate equivalency. 2. Satisfactory completion of a state approved program in vocational nursing, plus current license to practice in the State of California. 3. Must be able to communicate tactfully and empathetically, with cultural sensitivity; with staff and patients. Fluently bilingual English Spanish required, oral and written communication skills demonstrated in both languages. 4. Valid CA Driver’s License, current vehicle liability insurance, and an available vehicle required. 5. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills. 6. Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification from the American Heart Association. 7. Must be willing and able to work a varied and flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of NEVHC and its patients. 8. Must maintain or exceed competency levels as established by corporate standards for clinical practice. 9. Work Schedule: Mondays: 8-12 every other, Tuesdays 11:00-7:30pm, Wednesdays 11:00-7:30pm, Thursdays 8:30-5pm, every other Friday 7:30am-4pm, every other Saturday 8-12pm Grant funded position ending 5/31/2023
