Responsibilities

Venice Family Clinic is a community health center whose mission is “To provide quality primary health care to people in need.” Venice Family Clinic cares for over 27,000 low-income patients in over 120,000 visits annually who might otherwise go without critically needed health care services.

Venice Family Clinic has fourteen locations with over 420 staff, 1,300 volunteers, and a budget of $70 million.

We provide high quality, comprehensive primary and specialty health care, dental, mental health, substance use treatment and child development services to underserved individuals and families on the Westside of Los Angeles.

The Venice Family Clinic provides primary medical and mental health care to the community of Los Angeles.

Within the clinic is a robust Behavioral Health program that houses social workers, domestic violence specialists, substance use staff and case management.

In this role, you will be a therapist within the behavioral health program located in South Bay.

Your work will include providing clinical therapeutic interventions using short term treatment with individuals, families and groups, as well as crisis intervention and assessment and will be comprehensive, serving patients of all ages.

The on call model may include triage for patients who are unhoused, who have severe mental health challenges and/or who are struggling with substance use and is interwoven into the medical visits of patients and allows patient access to BH support during their medical visit.

Ongoing therapy will be a hybrid model of telehealth and in person.

Collaborative work with resource case management will focus on BH interventions and touches to provide comprehensive and collaborative care with outside agencies like schools and other mental health agencies.

Qualifications

Graduation with Master’s Degree from an accredited School of Social Work or Social Welfare
– Required.
State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in CA
– Required.
Advanced oral Spanish communication skills
– Required.
Demonstrated work experience with underserved populations
– Required.
Skill at assessing psychological needs of low income population
– Required.
Demonstrated work experience in individual, family and group therapy
– Required.
Excellent oral communication skills in order to communicate with providers, students, patients, agencies and volunteers
– Required.
Ability to manage high volume practice
– Required.
Working knowledge of California abuse reporting laws
– Required.
Effective interpersonal skills to diffuse patients who become agitated
– Required.
Ability to work and help create multi-disciplinary teams
– Required.
Knowledge of community mental health and social services
– Required.
Skill at developing treatment and case management plans
– Required.
Demonstrated leadership skills to initiate problem solving and program implementation
– Required.
Working knowledge of diverse cultures including the homeless
– Required.
Ability to work flexible hours to meet client needs
– Required.
Ability to percept, supervise and evaluate mental health students
– Required.
Knowledge of HIPPA compliance for client/agency records according to established professional social standards
– Required.
Knowledge of early childhood development and substance use disorders including harm reduction approach to care Preferred.
Knowledge of Patient Centered Medical Home
– Required.
