Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Braille Institute of America, Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to transform the lives of those with vision loss. Through educational training, programs and services, Braille Institute helps people regain and maintain their independence through six regional centers (Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Anaheim, Laguna Hills, Rancho Mirage, and San Diego) and through more than 300 community outreach locations. Each year, Braille Institute serves more than 37,000 people of all ages and demonstrates that vision rehabilitation is a beginning, not an end.

We currently are seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at our Los Angeles Center. This position is responsible for:

  • Conducting follow-up interventions as deemed necessary by the case management team.
  • Providing crisis intervention counseling and short-term therapy as needed for individuals, groups, couples, and/or families.
  • Facilitating emotional support groups and social adjustment initiatives.
  • Assisting the patient in prioritizing needs and coordinating referrals and advise counsel and, when appropriate, assist the patient’s support system in problem identification, analysis, suggestions for interventions, and care plans.
  • Referring clients to the appropriate staff for further program assistance and provide professional guidance to internal teams supporting client issues.
  • Using CRM program, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), for requested reports and evaluation.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and community partners.
  • Attending and participating in departmental meetings and training.
  • Supporting initiatives in multiple Braille Institute centers.
  • Supervising of MSW(s) working towards LCSW licensure.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in clinical social work is required and a strong background in community-based organizations (CBO’s);
  • At least (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a community care supervisory position;
  • LCSW licensure required
  • Advanced knowledge of current practices in counseling and assessment and advanced crisis intervention techniques.
  • Preferred experience or knowledge with visually impaired individuals;
  • Knowledge of online education programs or other technology-mediated instruction preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task, market, and implement a wide variety of programs for a diverse population.
  • Preferred experience or knowledge with visually impaired individuals.

  • Working knowledge of standard office computer software is required.
  • Excellent communication, organization, leadership, training, and presentation skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to creatively problem-solve.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.
