The Electrophysiology Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a NP who works under the direction of the Departments Administrative and Medical Directors to facilitate safe and efficient operational flow of the cardiovascular patient population at Keck Medical Center.

The NP is responsible for the application of the nursing process, supervision of clinical practice, education, leadership, and patient care management.

The NP will function as a part of inter-professional teams by communicating, planning, and implementing care directly with other healthcare professionals, including but not limited to physicians, pharmacists, office support staff, and clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners.This position is a Full-time Electrophysiology Cardiovascular position, outpatient duties will include supporting Electrophysiology and Cardiovascular Medicine physicians in their respective clinics by using a team approach to efficiently evaluate and treat our outpatient Cardiovascular Medicine patient population.

Other responsibilities will include being the point clinician for all patients with devices that are undergoing MRI.

Meeting all medical center requirements, the EP NP will be responsible for appropriate documentation, both inpatient and outpatient, including new patient H& Ps, consults, progress notes, device visits for MRI, in-hospital and clinic consults for MRIs with devices.

Inpatient duties include but not limited to; admission of patients to hospital, preparing patients for procedures, education, and discharge and disposition management.

The NP will be responsible for follow up, coordination of care, assisting in triaging phone calls, clinical questions, pharmacy, and remote monitoring.

The NP may also be involved in our telemedicine program.

The nurse practitioner should demonstrate a knowledge of regulatory requirements in the delivery of patient care.

Demonstrates critical thinking in providing care according to the standards of the profession.Minimum Education: Masters degree required.Minimum Experience/Knowledge: A minimum of 5 years-experience as a RN or NP.

Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as NP in Cardiology, mandatory.

2 year as NP Electrophysiology experience preferred.

Strong critical and strategic thinking, analytical and planning skills.

Organization/time management skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Required License/Certification: Valid California Registered Nursing license.

Valid California Nurse Practitioner license.

ACNP, AGACNP, FNP, ANP, or AGNP required.

BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.

ACLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.

NP Board Certification by ANCC or AANP required.

Fire and Safety Certification.

If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
