When work travel is allowed, up to 10% will be required if near Chaska and up to 30% if remote, most domestic but some internationally.

Work closely with clinical, medical, R&D, and product management teams to identify and explore IP opportunities for new and existing clinical chemistry and immunoassay products.

This role is dynamic and fast-paced, with a focus on rapid assay prototyping and development in pilot laboratory settings to provide for rapid go/no decisions.

You’ll also find solutions to intellectually challenging issues involving the interface of science, medicine and law as applied to innovations in diagnostic testing.This role also includes the following opportunity to:Proactively work with technical, business and clinical teams to capture innovations and protect through proper IP measures.Prepare claims, and manage preparation of, patent applications.Aggressively prosecute and manage aspects of global IP portfolio to ensure timely filing, responses, renewals, cancellations, etc.Support business in actively monitoring industry and technology areas through competitive intelligence.Perform a variety of additional ad hoc legal matters as necessary.The essential requirements of the job include:Master’s degree in immunology, Biochemistry or similar and certified patent agent or equivalent law degree and 4+ years of related experience3+ years of IP legal experience with an understanding of clinical work flowThis is a plus:PhD in Immunology, Biochemistry or similarMedical Devices or Life Sciences industriesBeckman Coulter, a Danaher company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to associates lives.
