We want your knowledge and expertise!SCHEDULE: Full Time 0.9 (36 hours per week)SHIFT: Days with rotating weekendsPOSITION SUMMARY:Provides nursing care as part of the critical care float pool.
Coordinates total nursing care for critically ill patients (ICU) and cares for a wide spectrum of illnesses and injuries including life saving procedures in all types of emergency and trauma situations to chronic medical problems, minor illnesses and injuries (ER).
Maintains standards for professional nursing practice in theEmergency/Trauma/ICU clinical setting.
Participates in organizational and unit based quality improvement activities.
Completes required competencies within the defined time frames.
The RN II will function within the full scope of RN licensure according to the California Nursing Practice Act.
Primary patient population served include those admitted for acute/unstable trauma, acute neurological incidents, acute respiratory failure, MI, acute GI bleed, electrolyte imbalance, and patients post drug overdose.
Participates in patient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
Is able to provide mentorship and guidance to new employees.
May be floated to any of the critical care departments.Qualifications LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Minimum: Current California Registered Nurse (R.N.) license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (to be completed within 30 days upon hire)Preferred: Trauma Nurse Core Course provider (TNCC-P), CCRN, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Minimum: 2 years of acute care nursing in a cardiovascular, trauma, or neurosurgical ICU.Preferred: Five years Emergency, Trauma, Critical Care nursing with emphasis on trauma, neurosurgical, or cardiovascular care.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Minimum: High School Graduate or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Minimum: Ability to use critical thinking skills and prioritize aspects of patient care; possesses good interpersonal communication skills.Is able to calculate medication dosages and safely administer medications within the critical care setting.
