JOB PURPOSE: Healthcare Database Administrator
– REMOTE This position is responsible for the administration, testing, and implementation of the companys computer databases, by applying knowledge of database management systems.

This position will coordinate changes to company computer databases, identify, investigate, and resolve database performance issues, database capacity, and database scalability.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Healthcare Database Administration Lead the design and maintenance of custom databases and processes Provide database design expertise to the organization, providing lead and consultation on projects Develop and implement data governance across the organization Create, review, and revise SQL projects Advise on best practices of database design and development, including exploration and insights on cloud-based solutions Analyze business requirements; partner with leaders across the organization to research and recommend solutions which balance business need and risk mitigation Develop and maintain appropriate technology documentation, including current design and operation Develop guidelines to define requirements, standards, and best practices for database administration Monitor and continually review existing systems to ensure they are designed to comply with established standards and to empower business operations Test programs or databases, correct errors, and make necessary modifications Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure Modify existing databases and database management systems Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system Create, review, and revise procedures in database management system manuals to make changes to database Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems, such as the installation of new databases Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for upper management Develop data model describing data elements and how they are used, following procedures Plan and install upgrades of database management system software to enhance database performance Provide technical support to staff, as appropriate Test changes to database applications or systems Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as applicable to area(s) of responsibility Handle confidential information and materials appropriately and maintaining a secure work area Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in related field; will consider documented and verifiable experience in lieu of education Three to Five years experience in database administration Healthcare experience or working with healthcare data experience strongly preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming Knowledge of database management system software Knowledge of data base user interface and query software Knowledge of various software including development environment-, object, or component-oriented development-, and web platform development software Knowledge and understanding of how the positions responsibilities contribute to the department and company goals and mission Knowledge of federal and state laws including OSHA, HIPAA, Waste Fraud and Abuse Awareness and understanding of equity, equity lens, diversity, and inclusion Training in or awareness of Health Literacy, Poverty Informed, Systemic Oppression, language access and the use of healthcare interpreters, uses of data to drive health equity, Cultural Awareness, Trauma-Informed Care, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service (CLAS) Standards, and universal access Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions Understand implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

This position may require repetitive motion to complete tasks.

Work Condition: Employee generally works within the interior of a professional office environment.

Employee may travel locally and be responsible for own transportation.

Out of area travel may be required on occasion.

Hours of operations and specific staff scheduling may vary between worksite based on operational needs.

The general environment is clean with a comfortable temperature and moderate noise level.

Exposed to: Cold/heat controls, close contact with employees and the general public.

Machines, equipment, tools and supplies used: Constantly operates a computer or other office productivity machinery, such as postage machine, fax, copier, calculator, multi-line telephone system, scanner May answer a high volume of telephone calls, complete documentation, and use computer programs to either obtain or record information Multiple Duties: May work under conditions of frequent interruption and be able to stay on task.

This posiiton is generally Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
