Overview: Under the guidance and direction of the Chief Financial Officer, this position is responsible in providing operational direction for Health Information Service with collaboration with the Coding Manager.
Accountable for directing Medical Record completion and storage, Cancer Registry, release of patient information, data collection and retrieval of information.
Ensure all services meet the needs of physicians, patients, family, and regulatory agencies.
This position supports Administration, Medical Staff and other departments.
Responsibilities: Develop, implement and maintain department policies and procedures with Coding Manager; assist in the preparation and implement goals and objectives.
Develop quality indicators, measure and report resultsi,e: Health Information Management Department and HIM committee, PPR, PIPDevelop and maintain job descriptions and performance standards.Performs personnel management functions of hiring, training, scheduling, counseling, evaluating, disciplining and termination of employeesManages the daily operations; prioritize and disseminate work and assign projects as required.
Provide support to the administration and the medical staff relating to accreditation standards and regulatory obligations.Ensure the timely submission of accurate data to OSPHD, correction of errors and clarification of data.
Assist in the development of the budget, monitor assigned cost centers, authorize payment of invoices.
Recommend, review and monitor outsourced services and their respective contracts.
Research and recommend the acquisition of new systems.Manages the overall education plan for the department.
Serve as a link to the medical staff, administration and other departments.
Supports the Form committee and support the Medical Record Committee in meeting its responsibilities.
Support Performance Improvement and Periodic Performance Review (PPR) to meet Joint Commission/CMS standards.
Manages and provides on-going support to the Defense Nurse Auditor; Review results of audit adjustments to ensure maximum achievable reimbursement.Manages and provide on-going medical charts audit/education.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience preferredGraduate of an approved Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Health Information Management educationMust possess current RHIA or RHIT certificate.
Minimum of five years management capacity in an acute setting.
Oral and written communication skills.
Basic and financial, statistical and data analysis skills.
Ability to function independently.
