The residential camp program is designed to help youth develop a holistic sense of self through The Woodcraft Way (mind, body, spirit and service). Camp builds character and equips youth with new skills and knowledge, strength and resilience, a deeper understanding of their place in the world, and a greater commitment to nature and their community. Camp Woodcraft is an ACA Accredited camp. Position Information: The Health Care Assistant is responsible for assisting in providing health and safety services to campers and staff. Position Responsibilities: 1. Under the direction of the Health Supervisor, assist in providing health care and first aid services to meet the needs of camp staff and campers. Assist with daily medication management. Help supervise and care for people admitted to the Health Center for care. Provide CPR and First Aid coverage as needed at designated times and locations. Provide direct care to staff within the scope of their skills, the camp’s health care manual, and treatment procedures. 2. Monitor and assist in maintaining health and safety practices while working in other areas throughout camp. Prepare athletic areas and waterfront with adequate water, sunscreen, and other prevention materials. Assist in ensuring campers wash before entering the dining area. Work with other staff to minimize/eliminate health and safety risks. 3. Other duties as assigned Qualifications: 18 years and High School Diploma or equivalent Must be First Aid/CPR certified. A registered nurse, licensed vocational nurse or a person trained in accordance with ACA and CA Health and Safety Code 1596.866 is a plus Must submit health history record prior to first day of work. Possess attributes that contribute to camper success (enthusiasm, integrity, compassion, trustworthiness, patience and respect) Experience providing health care for children is a must, providing health care in a camp setting is a plus Friendly, happy, with a good sense of humor (laughter can be the best medicine) Must be able to stay at camp in Mountain Center, CA during camp season Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects Woodcraft Rangers will require proof of vaccination for ALL employees providing any in-person work with staff or clients. All employees must submit a negative COVID-19 test result before their first date of employment.
