An endoscopy nurse will have an understanding in physiology, pathophysiology, endoscopy procedures, and pharmacodynamics of conscious sedation anesthesia and analgesia. The RN assumes responsibility and accountability for the care and teaching of patients. The RN directs and provides care to these patients utilizing therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment, instrumentation, and other healthcare team members.
