Brief Description of Principal Activities
Multifaceted intervention, prevention, mental health, and housing assistance is offered through street outreach and 9 service sites throughout Los Angeles County.

Joseph Center also provides on-site services at five permanent supportive housing developments, and will provide services at an additional six more sites in the coming year.

Job Description
Job Summary
The Biller works as a team member with several other Department of Mental Health (DMH) personnel and DMH program staff ensuring timely billing entry while adhering to the mission of St.

Joseph Center.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Biller’s key areas of responsibility include:

Duties
Obtain NPI numbers for all new billing program staff Complete, update, and enter all data on-line ensuring billing program staff are/remain current rendering providers Perform new client searches in the DMH Information System while verifying Medi-Cal and Medicare eligibility Enter and update client data to DMH Information System, including but not limited to client admissions/discharges Verify Medi-Cal eligibility at the beginning of each month for all active clients Enter all Medi-Cal/Shirt Doyle billing data into the DMH Information System via Direct Data Entry (DDE) Enter and bill all appropriate Medicare claims using Office Ally Reconciles mental health software reports and late billing reports with DMH Information System including all approved and pending units of service Re-submits any denied claims and data entry errors Conduct follow-up on outstanding billings and report any inconsistencies to the Program Managers Correct DMH Error Correction Reports and delivers to DMH in a timely manner Interface with LADMH in a professional and competent manner in regards to billing and Information System issues while attending pertinent DMH trainings Remain knowledgeable with LADMH policies and practices with regards to billing and IS Work with and Assist the DMH Billing Supervisor with reports for DMH.

Must be highly motivated and a self-starter.

Must have the ability to communicate with and relate to a diverse group of people including clients, community, and other staff.

Must have excellent administrative and organizational skills Knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel and Word
Experience
DMH Mental Health billing and Medicare experience is preferred; working knowledge generally accepted of accounting principles Experience with data input and filing
Education
High School diploma or GED
Direct Reports
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities
Computer Skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and widely supported internet browsers
Certificates, Licenses And Registrations
Valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions Valid automobile liability insurance
