Job Requirements:

  • Discharge Lounge Nurse manages throughput during Discharge Lounge open hours.
  • Discharge Lounge Nurse provides holistic, individualized patient care in response to identified needs of the general medical/surgical patient. Additional functions will be performed in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Follows patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures.
  • Ensures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment and adhering to Safety Program and Infection Control Programs.
  • Supports hospital and departmental Performance Improvement Goals.
  • Provides and documents quality patient care consistently according to the nursing process, evidence-based practice, hospital and professional standards and policy/procedures.
  • Facilitates interactions with units, pharmacy, EVS and other departments.
  • Supports patient flow and patient satisfaction by expediting discharges.
  • Responsible for cost containment, conservation of supplies, equipment, and other organizational resources.
  • Ensure all the appropriate logs, system notations, documentation and other data requirements are accurate and entered timely to ensure proper and compliant billing practices by PFS.
  • Completes departmental and hospital-wide in-services, competencies and Health Stream assignments.
  • Assists department management in the resolution and evaluation of problem situations.
  • Consistently supports compliance and the Code of Conduct (Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center’s code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and license requirements (if applicable), and Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center’s policies and procedures.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in a health care delivery system.
