QUICK FACTS:

The Dental Assistant / Mobile Team is the liaison between the dentist and the patient. They communicate with the dentist, patient, and the front office staff to ensure that the patient receives satisfactory service and treatment. The Dental Assistant assists the dentist chair side during treatment procedures, performing all assisting duties permitted within the guidelines the California Board of Dental Examiners set forth.

Entry Level DA prepares the instruments and materials for patient treatment according to Eisner Health infection control guidelines. Training is provided to ensure safety and efficiency, with additional training available to provide dental assistants with opportunities for advancement. The mobile team dental assistant will primarily work from the dental mobile unit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Your primary work duties may be delivered from Eisner’s Dental mobile unit. While working from a dental mobile unit, you will travel to local off-site locations/ partners with a Dentist and other Dental Assistants.
  • A circumstance of treatment in which the dental professional must diagnose and authorize the work performed on the patient by the dental staff but is not required to be on the premises while the treatment is carried out.
  • Extra-oral duties or procedures specified by the supervising licensed dentist provided that these duties or procedures meet the definition of a basic supportive procedure set in Section 1750.
  • Operate dental radiography equipment for oral radiography if the dental assistant has complied with the requirements of Section 1656.
  • Ability to take Blood Pressure.
  • Perform intraoral and extraoral photography.
  • Greets patients and assists them while waiting to be seen by the dentist.
  • Prepares patient for the procedure/treatment
  • Prepares all necessary instruments, equipment, and models for the procedure/treatment
  • Assists the patient in clean-up after the procedure or treatment.
  • Maintains accurate documentation on the patient’s records during and after the procedure/treatment.
  • Follows up with each patient’s treatment and coordinates care with the dental team, including upcoming semi-annual/annual dental exams.
  • Explains treatments, procedures and referrals to patient/parent or guardian. Coordinates and follows up with referrals when appropriate.
  • Provides patient education on dental care and hygiene.
  • Files all information (including dental films) in the patient’s charts after they are received and reviewed by the dentist.
  • Cleans and disinfects operatories after each patient and at the end of the day
  • Cleans the equipment/instruments after use; prepares them for sterilization.
  • Calls patients to confirm their appointments for the next day. Sends out notices to “No Show” patients.
  • Acts as a liaison between Eisner and all schools that host the dental program to coordinate any events which can be used to market and promote the dental program.
  • Replenishes stock in the dental operatories after each procedure or treatment in preparation for the next patient.
  • Answers the phones and/ or assist patients as needed.
  • Maintains the inventory of dental supplies and prepares orders as needed.
  • Informs Dental Supervisor of broken or malfunctioning equipment
  • May supervise interns, students, and volunteers as assigned.
  • Use, protects, and discloses EISNER HEALTH patients’ protected health information (PHI) only by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
  • Participate in Eisner’s Peer Review program.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a current X-ray License. If they do not, they must sign an agreement to obtain the license within three (3) months of employment.
  • Must be fluent in Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Possess certification as a Dental Assistant.
  • Possess current CPR Certification.
