Clinical Nurse Specialist – Inservice Education

The Clinical Nurse Specialist serves as a resource/consultant for all departments regarding clinical specialty, conducts/ participates in research across varied patient populations.

Develops, coordinates, delivers and /or evaluates educational activities for hospital staff, patients and family members.

Leads outcome-based approach to patient care by insuring evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary care delivery.

Minimum Education: • Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Registered Nursing.

Minimum Experience/Knowledge: • 5 years acute care nursing experience required.

• Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.

• Demonstrates ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.

• Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.

• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as Internet and access and utilization.

• Ability to participate in and utilize research for improvement of patient-care practices.

Required License/Certification: • Valid California Registered Nurse License.

• California Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support training.

• Advance Cardiac Life support (preferred) • Specialty Certification (preferred).

If no certification upon hire, one must be obtained within 12 months of hire, and maintain renewal.

• Fire and Safety Certification.

If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 90 days of hire, and maintain renewal before expiration date.
