Job Details Level Experienced Job Location Main Hospital – Los Angeles, CA Description Clinical Education Manager Exempt Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center SUMMARY OF POSITION: Has primary responsibility for management for clinical education across all levels of care that Gateways provides. This will include delivering educational and professional development services to multiple specialties with a focus on nurses and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, overseeing operational aspects of service delivery, maintaining records of employee certification, overseeing the experience of students completing clinical rotations, assessing outcomes of services, modifying educational programs, and creating new content. Able to apply research findings into pedagogy and delivery of services Experience with patients with mental health challenges/psychiatric illness Experience with patients with forensic backgrounds ESSENTIALS DUTIES: Collaborates with directors of nursing, psychology, and occupational therapy to deliver educational programs and secure resources necessary for those programs based on needs assessments and staff input. Initiates skills development programs including new-grad residency program for RNs within the parameters of established care models; monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters Educates technical and patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff. Collaborates with EHR administrator to incorporate EHR into clinical education. Maintains database of students participating in clinical rotations. Maintains database of clinical staff certification. Ensures staff compliance with required certifications and required hospital-based education. Ensures ongoing contact with affiliated educational institutions. Collaborates with clinical instructors in delivery of educational services to students during clinical rotations Supports ongoing professional development initiatives. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Minimum 2 years of experience delivering patient care as a licensed/registered clinician. Minimum of 1 year of experience as an educator in a clinical or academic setting. EDUCATION Master or doctorate degree in Nursing Education OR as a Clinical Nurse Specialist OR in clinical specialty other than nursing such as psychology, social work, or education. Candidates with a non-nursing background must have working knowledge of psychopharmacology and treatment of common chronic medical conditions (hypertension, diabetes, etc.) AGENCY REQUIREMENTS Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance. Valid California Driver’s license. TB clearance. Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier. Fire and Safety Training. First Aid Training Certification. CPR Certification. Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI) Note: If indicated certifications/licenses are lacking, they must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
