Provide leadership and direction for the UCLA Health Radiation Oncology services, and the Thoracic and Surgical Oncology licensed clinics.
The Clinical Director reports to the Executive Director of Clinical Services, and is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and coordinating management and administrative systems related to clinical components of the Department.
The responsibilities are broad and diverse and include strategic planning and program development, personnel management, fiscal management, space allocation, capital equipment acquisition and facility renovations.
The Clinical Director must ensure that all clinical activities are conducted according to the hospital’s mission to provide excellent patient care.
The Clinical Director performs the management function of assigned clinical ambulatory and community practices including direct supervision of all staff providing patient services regardless of whether the staff are health system or departmental employees.
Assist with establishing a discipline specific infrastructure within UCLA Health to include recruitment of physicians and staff to support the assigned ambulatory and community practices.
Oversee clinical operations in the clinic including meeting the requirements for compliance, patient satisfaction, patient safety and quality and supervision of staff in accordance with UCLA Health policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
Monitors clinic productivity, billing practices, audit requirements, equipment maintenance, and IT services necessary for the success of the ambulatory and community practice.
Monitors financial performance of the ambulatory and community practice (in collaboration with the Executive Medical Director and Executive Director, Clinical Services).
Executes strategic plans for expansion and assists in implementing the strategic plan of UCLA Health as it relates to the ambulatory and community practice.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have 5-7 years in healthcare management.
We seek someone with a Master’s degree (Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public health or related field) or combination of education and relevant experience.
Top candidates will have expertise in managing patient services and nursing staffing in environment with a high volume of patient visits as well as the strengths, abilities, and knowledge listed below.
Strong in:
clinical leadership, planning and change management skills as well as knowledge of industry standards, trends and/or regulatory requirements effective interpersonal and communication skills excellent communication skills both oral and written
Ability to:
demonstrate a high level of diplomacy in persuading and influencing a wide variety of people at various levels to achieve results establish a culture of integrity within their unit and with those external to the units establish and maintain productive working relationships with faculty, residents, medical students and staff from various social, cultural and economic backgrounds interact diplomatically and sympathetically with a patient population in varying degrees of health identify and analyze all pertinent information/data to make and communicate decisions to meet the unit’s current and future needs
Skilled in:
analyzing information, problems, situations and procedures to define objectives, identify patterns, and formulate conclusions communication to clearly convey complex problems and proposals in both formal and informal situations setting priorities, which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities
Preferred:
working knowledge of research-oriented patient care systems advanced financial expertise in budget planning and financial forecasting in healthcare knowledge of EPIC EHR
