Charge Nurse – Reconstructive Surgery Clinic – 8 Hour Days

The Cedars-Sinai Medical Group’s Hand, Upper Extremity, and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Department is a large and complex practice providing outstanding care to patients. Our dedicated team comprises seven surgeons, two physician assistants, and 31 employees who see 16,000 patients in the clinic and perform 1,700 surgeries annually. The ideal candidate must have experience and a passion for working in a fast-paced environment and supporting a diverse and growing Team.

The Charge Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care flows. Sets and handles staffing schedule, supervises the day to day operational flow of patient care. Serves as a resource for clinical questions and patient care related issues as they arise. Works closely with the Administrator/Clinical Director, Nurse Manager, Medical Director and all staff. Provides leadership through example and sets the pace for an efficient, quality care focused, team oriented Reconstructive Surgery department.

Primary Duties

  • Acts as a resource on clinical issues to all nursing and clinical ancillary staff.
  • Serves as the team leader in the continuity of patient care in the clinical areas and acts as the Administrator/Clinical Director in the Director’s absence.
  • Ensures that all vital equipment and supplies are ordered for the clinical area and that inventory par levels are maintained.
  • Orders or oversees the ordering of medication and supplies on a weekly basis based on upcoming patient census.
  • Directs the orientation, in-service training and education of assigned personnel, and conducts annual and off-cycle proficiency training.
  • Participates in setting standards and writing nursing care policies and procedures.
  • Holds monthly staff meetings to keep staff apprised of policy additions and revisions, findings of QI studies and implications, to relay pertinent information, and to allow employees to share ideas and concerns.

 

Job qualifications

Education

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor’s Degree Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred

Work Experience

  • 5 years Nursing patient care experience preferred
  • 1 year Charge RN experience required
  • 1 year Experience in a hospital or surgery Center Setting required
