JOB SUMMARY
Accelerateyour nursing career by joining our Specialty Training Apprenticeship forRegistered Nurses (StaRN) program!
We invite new graduate registerednurses to apply for a unique opportunity to have didactic and clinical trainingby HealthTrust (a part of the HCA family). The number of StaRN’s and unitswill depend on the needs of the facility.
TheStaRN Program is primarily designed to provide the graduate nurse with thetools necessary to succeed in today’s hospital environment.
StaRNwill add in the graduate nurse with the transition out of the classroom settingand onto the unit by providing the following training:
Didactictraining: introducesnurses to core curriculum and hospital initiatives in a classroom setting (5 to6 weeks)
Simulationtraining: reinforces nursing skillslearned in the didactic setting (1 week)
Handson training: with a facilitypreceptor in your nursing unit (6 to 8 weeks)
Interactive classroom lectures/discussions
•Curriculum based on evidence basedpractice, National Standards and HCA Healthcare Clinical Standards of Excellence
• Basic Dysrhythmia
•Meditech (EHR) hands‐on training
•Medical Surgical medication management
•TeamSTEPPS® training
•CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention
•AIDET, SBAR, Patient Experience, Falls and more

Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Graduate of an Accredited School ofNursing, BSN preferred.
• This is for graduates within theprevious 12
– 18 months
• Candidates may not have previous acutecare experience
• Independently maintains license
• Acquires required contact hours tomaintain license
• Must be licensed by the state ofCalifornia prior to scheduling an interview
• Training will include BLS/ACLScertification
• Self-motivated and strongcommunication skills required
• Acceptance into the program requires atwo-year commitment to West Hills Medical Center
