The Chief will provide overall leadership to the division, overseeing strategic planning, recruitment and program development, and ensuring the integration of training and research programs with clinical services throughout the hospital.

The Chief will lead the division’s support of the Department of Pediatrics’ academic goals in research, education and faculty development and will join the Department of Pediatrics Leadership team.nn nnWe seek a truly visionary leader who will oversee three major programs in the hospital’s Division of General Pediatrics – academic General Pediatrics, USC University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), and Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP).

These 3 programs provide a broad primary, developmental and behavioral care program serving a large complex, and diverse population.

The Chief will be responsible for the development of clinical programs that support and complement the education and research programs in the division.

Successful outcomes will include but not be limited to cutting-edge clinical, education, research and academic programs. nn nnThey should have strong interpersonal skills, be able to effectively communicate a vision, have demonstrated leadership capabilities in previous academic appointments and the ability to manage large and complex programs and budgets.

Their support for the education programs sponsored by the division will be essential; as will their skills a mentor for junior faculty and trainees. nn nnThe Division Chief must be a strong, persuasive, and effective advocate for children and youth, the Department of Pediatrics of USC and CHLA, and able to articulate goals, inspire progress, and respond nimbly to change.

Working with CHLA and CHLA Foundation leadership, the Chief will be an active partner in the fundraising campaign to support and endow programs.

nn nnThe successful candidate must share and demonstrate a personal commitment to CHLA’s values of respect, excellence, service, knowledge, and teamwork, which are also values shared by the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

Candidates should have experience and strong interest in children with complex medical and social issues, experience in interdisciplinary care, and commitment to serving vulnerable and minority populations.nn nnCandidates should be at the Associate Professor or Professor level. nn nnCandidates should have strong clinical, education, and research skills; and significant leadership and management experience in a research-oriented children’s hospital or academic pediatric department of a university medical school.

Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of progressive medical and research experience with an increasing scope of responsibility including faculty and trainee mentoring and program development. nn nnCandidates must have an MD, DO or MD/PhD degree, completed a general pediatrics residency, and, preferably, have an MPH degree or academic general pediatrics fellowship.

The individual must be board-certified in Pediatrics, and obtain California licensure.

Candidates should have clinical as well as research experience in a pediatric setting and qualify for appointment as Associate Professor or Full Professor.
