The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine, in the Division of Critical Care, are actively seeking a full time faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics.
The Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles includes 45 inpatient beds. The Institute cares for over 8,000 children with congenital heart disease each year with over 750 admissions to the 24-bed Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, including 550 CPB cases. Academic rank is commensurate with experience and training.
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has large and active solid organ transplant programs including heart, lung, kidney, liver, and small bowel. We have a wide range of research strengths including informatics, human physiology, and health services research. We have been ranked among the top ten children’s hospitals in the country by US News & World Report consistently. Our recognized fellowship program consistently fills and attracts very high caliber trainees.
Additionally, we offer a year of training in pediatric cardiac critical care to graduates of pediatric critical care or cardiology fellowships.The successful candidate should have pediatric critical care training with additional training or commensurate experience in pediatric cardiac critical care. Candidate must also possess strong teaching and interpersonal skills with desire to work in a multidisciplinary collaborative environment. This candidate will also be expected to have a track record or substantive potential of scholarly productivity in their chosen area of study. Multiple opportunities for clinical, translational and basic research are available.
The candidate will be expected to contribute academically – broadly defined – to our division. Applicants must be BE/BC in pediatric critical care medicine and additional pediatric cardiac intensive care experience or training is required. Board certification or eligibility in pediatric cardiology would be highly regarded. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with rank, qualifications and experience. Our Department is committed to clinical service and didactic instruction of postgraduate trainees in Pediatric Critical Care.
