Job SummaryThe Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) sets the strategic direction for Human Resources planning for the organization, provides day to day leadership for the HR function, and serves as a key partner to all management and staff on a wide range of employment related activities.

The ideal candidate will have extensive human resources leadership experience in high-growth life sciences companies where an exemplary culture coupled with flawless operational execution is a key competitive differentiator and unequivocal pillar of success.

The incumbent embraces the privilege of leadership with humility, grace, and an indomitable will to succeed.The VP of HR areas of responsibility include workforce planning, cultural stewardship, enterprise-wide talent acquisition, performance management, employment activities, employee compensation and benefits, employee relations, employee engagement and recognition, organizational development, professional and leadership training and development, policies and procedures, and employment-related risk management.The VP of HR will be based in Boston with travel to Seattle.

However, the VP of HR is expected to be present in all Affini-T locations as needed and on a routine basis.AccountabilitiesDevelop and enhance organizational culture and staff engagement, use your broad and deep experience and understanding of the cultural impact of HR related programs and initiativesDevelop and implement an overall HR strategy to align with the business strategy; partnering with the Affini-T executive team to operationalize strategies into actionable tactics to achieve success.Manage all people matters in a high growth environment; integrate diverse programs, policies, and procedures across multiple states and operational units while growing rapidly.Manage, communicate, and educate on legal and regulatory requirements, including EEO/AAP, ERISA, Wage and Hour issues, federal and state labor standards, etc.

in multi-state and local jurisdictions.Lead the organization’s HR function, including workforce planning, talent acquisition and retention, performance management, compensation structures, employee relations and culture building, benefit programs, training and professional development.

Manage all such programs and processes in such a manner that ensures cost-effectiveness, market competitiveness and internal equity among all employees.Actively participate in the development, maintenance, and deployment of the corporate strategic plan.Stays abreast of the competitive landscape as well as advances and innovation in the human resources space and is willing to explore creative approaches to all people mattersProvide candid and direct feedback and counsel to the executive team (CEO, CSO, CTO, etc.) regarding significant issues and opportunities for internal quality improvement.Provide effective consultative services to management and staff on a wide range of human resource topics; provide constructive feedback to employees and managers, as appropriate.In collaboration with other organizational leaders, develop, enhance, and lead the organizational learning and development strategy.Develop appropriate policies and programs for effective management of business issues such as sexual harassment, employee complaints, training and development, career development.Establish credibility with management and employees to be an effective resource; assist leaders in the evaluation of their department structure and team plans for continual improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of the group.Coach, develop, and mentor a team of HR professionals to support the business.Ensure the HR department provides a safe and confidential environment to address employee and manager issues or concerns; employee relations issues are resolved through a process that is effective, thorough, and timely in resolving workplace and employment related issues.Lead and encourage HR team members to behave in a manner consistent with implementation of the mission, vision, values, and corporate strategies of the organization, and as advocates for the organization and all its staff.QualificationsMaster’s degree in Human Resources or similar field preferred.Certification(s) in Human Resources preferred.Requires a minimum of 15 years of progressive responsibility in Human Resources, covering all HR functions, that includes at least 5 years in a senior leadership role accountable for all HR functions.

Several years of experience in a high growth, life science organization is highly preferredWorking knowledge of technical and scientific verbiage relevant to biopharmaceutical drug development disciplines is a strong plusStrategic and operational expertise in multiple HR areas, i.E., is a specialist in many HR areas such as talent acquisition, total rewards, employee relations, learning and organizational development, etc.A passion for all people matters no matter how large or small.Highly creative, collaborative, and thrives in a dynamic, dispersed, and diverse matrixed environment.Proven skills as an effective team player who can engender trust, credibility, and confidence within and outside the company; must be a relationship builder.Demonstrates leadership gravitas coupled with a highly approachable manner.Shows cross-cultural understanding and the ability to leverage diverse talents to maximize organizational productivity.Intrinsic personal alignment with Affini-T’s core values, mission, vision, and leadership principles.
