ABOUT USA Place Called Home is a dynamic, non-profit youth and community center in South Central Los Angeles.

APCH provides educational programs, counseling, mentoring, music, dance and art classes, fitness and health and wellness opportunities.

As youth participate in our programs, they discover interests and talents and develop a better sense of themselves and their place in the world around them.

The Health Care Aide will be at the front-line for member safety and well being.

The Health Care Aide assesses members who are ill or injured and determines if further medical attention is needed during the after school programming hours (2:00 pm 7:00 pm) Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES COVID related responsibilities: The HCA will have the opportunity to standardize processes related to COVID Response and protocols.Possess basic knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for providing the full continuance of COVID-19 response, including:Disease SurveillanceCase InvestigationContact TracingLaboratory Testing (Types of COVID testing available)ImmunizationsGeneral Health PracticeProvide COVID-19 related health education to staff and members/parentsRespond to COVID-19 related inquiries, questions or concernsAssist with daily screenings for COVID-19 risk, per protocolGather clinical information to facilitate assessment of risk of COVID-19 exposure in a campus setting, such as:temperature screeningsupervising self-administered testinginterviewing for signs/symptoms of COVID-19Manage potentially COVID-positive members in the isolation area:Supervise memberContact familiesRecord activity as neededInitiate Contact Tracing of COVID-19 infections and assist APCH Leadership (HR, EMT, OLG) with continued Contact Tracing needsManage necessary communication between campus, LA County Public Health, and OSHA (as required)Communicate with Programs Operations with attendance regarding any member sent home due to COVID concernsCommunicate with APCH Leadership (HR, EMT, OLG)Submit notification to LA County Public Health and OSHA (as required)Utilize protocols to perform decision making related to COVID-19 isolation, quarantine, and testing.Escalate complex decision making to APCH Leadership (EMT and OLG)Provide a daily report of activities:Number of members screenedSent homeTestedComply with workplace safety and health protocols (OSHA, state, and local regulations) Member CareMonitor children to ensure their health, safety and physical well-beingEnforce and ensure Covid-19 health and safety rules and procedures are observed Screen members for Covid-19, secure in sick room to prevent spreading, notify Leadership and familiesPerform first aid in emergency situations according to established proceduresAdminister first aid for minor injuriesConfer with parents about special problems and needs of their children when necessaryExamine members for lice or general health problems when necessaryConfer with APCH staff on making decisions on members about participation in activities per their health needsPrepare, maintain and replenish first aid kits for various on-site locations and off campus tripsPerform other tasks as assigned AdministrativeDocument all injuries and care rendered Maintain medical log, complete incident forms for injuries when requiredReview all Incident/Accident Reports to identify ways to prevent and reduce incidents, accident and injuriesReports observations to the Chief Program Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Director of Counseling, when appropriateNotify Director of Counseling of health problems and concerns and respond to questions related to member’s healthInventory supplies at beginning and end of each semester and reorder as neededCommunicates necessary medical information in a timely manner to appropriate APCH personnel, parents/guardians while maintaining confidentialityWork with the Membership team to ensure all immunization records are up to dateThe ideal APCH Health Care Aide is someone who has a love for helping others and will be an individual who carries high personal and professional standards.
